Danganronpa S: Ultimate Summer Camp Shares Main Story, Hype Cards, Monetization Details; Several New Screenshots

Publisher Spike Chunsoft has shared further details for the upcoming Danganronpa S: Ultimate Summer Camp, the fourth title included in the Danganronap Decadence package. None of the tragic events from the mainline events occur in this entry as it instead consists of various Hope’s Peak students, their family members, and students of the affiliated elementary school attending a 50-day talent development camp. The Ultra Despair Cast has already met each other during a Towa City field trip.

The Neo World Program’s emulation of Jabberwock Island is the site of the training camp. And, the Monokubs are there to oversee the participants, but Monokuma wants to amplify the stakes. He spawns monsters known as Monobeasts, and so to complete the training camp, all participants must team up together to triumph over these foes, grow their respective talents, and find Hope Shards. Main story progress takes place after development completes for every 10 characters.

Hype Cards are an integral feature of the gameplay experience, as the 9 specific types for each character enhance their stats and growth potentiality. Their effects are automatic once drawn from MonoMono Machines, and they are engraved with illustrations from the franchise’s 10-year history of merchandise. In total, there are over 500 Hype Cards when accounting for how the over 60 character-playable cast has 9 dedicated ones each.

Presents are other benefits granted by the MonoMono Machines as they provide invaluable boons for the board game’s duration, such as shop discounts, greater inventory capacity, and more.

All content will be earnable in-game with no duplicate Character and Hype Cards being possible. Monocoins used for the MonoMono Machines can’t be bought with real-world money either.

However, there is still a monetization element to take note of. Players can choose specific cards to purchase via the Nintendo Switch eShop, and the available packages are as follows:

  • 1 card = $0.99
  • 3 cards = $1.99
  • 5 cards = $2.99
  • 3 cards (can only buy this once) = $0.99
