Spike Chunsoft has announced that due to “unavoidable reasons,” the physical Switch 2 release of Danganronpa 2×2 will be a game key card.

Consequently, the Shopify US Store will cancel and refund all orders placed for the Nintendo Switch 2 version of the game. Additionally, refunds typically take 2 to 10 business days depending on your bank or card’s processing times.

Lastly, Switch 2 pre-orders placed on Shopify UK, Shopify EU, and all other retail stores will be shipped as a game-key card.

Important update regarding Danganronpa 2×2 for Nintendo Switch 2

For unavoidable reasons, Danganronpa 2×2 for Nintendo Switch 2 will be released on game-key card in all regions.

Players will be able to choose between two story modes from the start of the game. Original mode retells the story of Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair with updated visuals and presentation. Slayhem offers a completely new scenario set in the same setting, but changes the course of the story with different victims, culprits, and murder methods. The alternate mode includes roughly 20% more content than the Original mode.

While Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair used a side-scrolling map for moving between locations, Danganronpa 2×2 introduces a fully 3D island map.

Players can freely explore the island on foot or instantly fast travel to previously visited destinations. The new first-person map presentation is also intended to better showcase the tropical setting. In addition, Danganronpa 2×2 features newly illustrated character portraits.

Danganronpa 2×2 will be released in early 2027 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC via Steam.
