Cyberpunk Clothformer ‘Lazr’ Launches Kickstarter to Assist Development

Top Hat Studios and Garrick Campsey have launched a Kickstarter for the 2D platformer Lazr, in development for PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC with a planned November 2020 release window.

The Kickstarter is asking for $10,000 to help fund the game’s development as they lead into the final stretch of the game. Players are able to receive a key for the game by backing the campaign for $15. There are various rewards available as well as stretch goals that include community level and speed run competitions.

The developer has also released a demo of the game for players to preview some of what will be in the final build.

During gameplay, players assume the role of Lazr, an android who can do some amazing things. Being an android, players are able to equip her with mods known as Shells. Each time Lazr dies, her AI is copied to new hardware and players will be able to try again. Different shells have been designed to fit the player’s playstyle.

During gameplay, players will platform throughout the cyberpunk setting in a unique way. The game requires players to use cloth hanging throughout the game to make their way through the various levels. While there are more traditional platforming sections, the game utilizes this cloth technique throughout most of its designs. Additionally, the game features multiple endings based on the choices the players make throughout the adventure. the gameplay is estimated to last 6 to 9 hours.
