Crunchyroll Acquires Streaming Rights for ‘The Concierge’ for 2024 Release
Crunchyroll announced they have acquired the rights for the anime film The Concierge. The company announced that Western fans can look forward to streaming the movie in 2024, but those who can’t wait have a few options to see it in theaters.
In The Concierge, Akino is currently in training as a concierge at the Hokkyoku Department Store, a rather unique establishment specializing in serving animal clientele. In this role, she operates under the supervision of the floor manager and experienced concierges. Akino’s responsibilities involve attending to a wide array of customer requests and addressing various issues, all while she strives to attain the status of a fully accredited concierge.
The Concierge made its World Premiere this past June at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival and its North American Premiere at the Fantasia International Film Festival. The film will screen in competition at the Animation Is Film Festival in Los Angeles on Saturday, October 21, at 3 p.m. PT. Tickets are now on sale at the official website. The Concierge is the first feature film from director Yoshimi Itazu (Welcome to the Ballroom). The film is set to be released by Aniplex in Japan on October 20 and is expected to come to Crunchyroll and Sony Pictures territories in 2024.
The Concierge is directed by Yoshimi Itazu from the production company PRODUCTION I.G (Ghost in the Shell, PSYCHO-PASS, Haikyuu!). The main voice cast includes Natsumi Kawaida as Akino, Takeo Otsuka as Elulu, and Kenjiro Tsuda as Woolly.
