Control 2 Announced for PS5, Xbox Series X|S & PC; 505 Games Agreement, Concept Art & Staff Messages

Remedy Enterintament has announced that they have signed an agreement with 505 Games to co-develop and co-publish the highly-desired Control 2. The initial development budget for this sequel is EUR 50 million, and Remedy will retain ownership of the IP alongside creating it on their Northlight engine. However, the “development, marketing, and post-launch investments as well as the future net revenues generated by the game will be equally split between 505 Games and Remedy.”

The title is planned to launch for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.

Rami and Raffi Galante, co-CEOs of Digital Bros Group/505 Games, shared the following statement regarding the agreement:

“We are excited to deepen our cooperation with Remedy and continue the success story of Control together. Since its launch in 2019, Control has sold over 3 million copies. Control is the biggest investment 505 Games has ever made, so it has a special place in our hearts. We are grateful to the whole player community that has made Control such a long-lasting and loved game, and are even more excited to bring out Control 2,” Rami and Raffi Galante continue.

Additionally, the Control franchise game director, Mikael Kasurinen, shared the following comment:

“With Control, we leaped into the unknown. We wanted to create something new. Something different and unexpected. A world like no other. Thank you, the audience, for making Control such a success for us.

With Control 2, we’ll take another leap into the unknown. It’ll be an unexpected journey. It’ll take a while, but to put it mildly, this is the most exciting project I’ve ever worked on. It’s still early days, but it will be worth the wait.”

Lastly, new concept art for the game was shared, viewable below:

Control puts players in the role of Jesse Faden, a secret agent who must fight an otherworldly threat after being invaded. The game features sandbox-style elements that allow the player to take on enemies in various ways. In a fight, players will be able to use a combination of supernatural abilities, modify their loadouts, and journey through reactive environments.

Control is currently available for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Nintendo Switch via the Cloud.
