Konami has revealed the newest entry in the Contra franchise Contra: Rogue Corps, coming to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch, and PC-via Steam on September 24 for $39.99.
Contra: Rogue Corps takes place after the events of Contra III: The Alien Wars. The game features twin-stick third-person action as players will need to blast their way through numerous environments and enemies. There will be four characters available at launch with their own unique skills and abilities, which can be upgraded during the campaign.
Features in the game include customizable characters, which allows players to edit their load outs and craft new weapons. Furthermore, characters can be upgraded with new abilities using augmentations. Players will be able to play through a single player campaign mode which is mission based and full of various challenges. The story mode also includes the option to play through it with a group of friends or random players with online multiplayer. There’s also PVP game modes and the return of couch co-op mode.
Additionally, the publisher released a new gameplay trailer, which gives players an idea of what they can expect from the game. It seems like the team attempted to stay true to the series’ classic graphical style and over the top characters.
