Contra: Operation Galuga Coming to Switch in 2024

Komani announced they will publish the WayForward-developed action shooter Contra: Operation Galuga, coming to PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and PC via Steam in early 2024. The game will be digital only with a physical release aimed post-launch.

Contra: Operation Galuga aims to provide a dose of nostalgia as Bill Rizer and Lance Bean rejoin the action to fight against the notorious Red Falcon terrorist group. Galuga Island, once peaceful, now stands torn apart by conflict, with humanity’s fate hanging in the balance.

In Contra: Operation Galuga, players can opt for cooperative play in Story Mode, accommodating up to two players, or assemble a four-player team for an intensified challenge in Arcade Mode. Players will navigate through a series of stages, including jungle environments, waterfalls, and high-speed hovercycle sequences within enemy compounds. Iconic Contra weapons, like the spread shot, laser, and homing missiles, make their return, now with the ability to stack two weapons of the same type for enhanced firepower. Surplus weapons can be sacrificed to unleash potent Overload abilities. The game caters to both Contra veterans and newcomers with three difficulty settings and various challenge options.

Key features of Contra: Operation Galuga include the classic run-and-gun experience reimagined for today’s audience. Players can expect a range of dynamic stages, from infiltrating jungles to scaling waterfalls and engaging in high-speed hovercycle encounters within enemy bases. Returning weapons, along with stackable upgrades and Overload abilities, add depth to the gameplay.
