Concept of Bloober Team Developed Silent Hill ‘Leak’ Denied by Developer
Developer Bloober Team brought their skills of adventure horror to their latest release, The Medium. Many compared the game to Silent Hill as the in-game switch in tone is similar when the characters of Silent Hill find themselves in a shadowy alternative world.
Fans have speculated that the developer is working with Konami on a Silent Hill-related project. This speculation was enhanced after codenames H20, Black, and Dum Spiro were discovered. It was later revealed that H20 was Layer of Fear 2, but Black and Dum Spiro were rumored to be a Silent Hill game. However, in a conversation with IGN, Bloober Team CMO Tomasz Gawlikowski shared that neither of those games were being developed at this time, “Online speculations based on outdated or incomplete information can often lead to strange theories among gamers, so we appreciate you asking us directly.”
“We have also applied for two other projects, codenamed respectively Dum Spiro and Black,” Gawlikowski continued. “After numerous iterations of Dum Spiro, we’ve concluded we can’t at the moment deliver it in a form that is appropriately sensitive to the topic and commercially viable at the same time. In short, Dum Spiro is no longer in active development at the moment.”
“Similarly, the initial idea for Black has also been shelved, and while we’re still developing a game under this codename, it’s now a much different project than what you could read on the web in the past few days.”
The company is still in talks with Konami, but the CEO didn’t detail whether or not the studio was working on a Silent Hill game. However, he did confirm that they were working on larger projects, “At Bloober Team, we have two active internal projects, one in the production phase and one in the pre-production phase. Both are going to be bigger in scope than The Medium. However, neither of them is based on themes or premises that have been circulating online in the last days.”
I guess we’ll have to wait and see what Bloober Team is developing, but as for any leaked information, nothing is pointing to a new Silent Hill game at this time.
