Co-Founder of Limited Run Games Douglas Bogart Announces Last Day With the Company

In 2015, Josh Fairhurst and Douglas Bogart launched Limited Run Games to publish physical releases of indie games and other titles that would otherwise be limited to a digital release. Since then, the two would go on to release many titles with the promise of preserving games for future generations.

Today, Bogart announced last week was his last. In a Twitter post, he shared, “Douglas from Limited Run Games here! I just wanted to announce last week Limited Run and I have parted ways. I still love everyone at Limited Run, and I’m excited for everyone to see the projects, and initiatives they have coming your way! I will be taking a short sabbatical, and then I will be getting started on my next adventure. Thank you for these past 8 years.”

There was no reason provided as to why he left or what the state of the company is in. In recent years, the co-founders have been outspoken about criticism surrounding their business. Still, they have stayed vigilant in providing an avenue for physical releases for game developers, which is nothing to gloss over. The moves that Fairhurst and Bogart made changed the industry as a whole and allowed other companies to come up within the same space.

In 2022, Embrace Group purchased the company. It’s unclear how the company is being run under this new agreement or if it had any cause for Doug’s sudden departing, but it’s something to consider. Fairhurst has not commented at this time.
