SNES Style RPG ‘Chained Echoes’ Continues to Impress With New Gameplay Trailer
Deck 13 released a new gameplay trailer for the Matthias Linda-developed adventure RPG, Chained Echoes, releasing on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam and GOG in October 2022. However, a release window has not been confirmed at this time.
The trailer highlights character interactions and the adventure elements of the upcoming RPG. It borrows a lot from classic SNES titles in its design and battle system.
Chained Echoes borrows many elements from past SNES RPGs with its 16-bit presentation. Players follow a group of heroes tasked with exploring the continent of Valandis to bring an end to the war between its three kingdoms. Players will meet other characters throughout the adventure to add to the party and uncover a 40 – 50 hours story.
The developer shares that the game features no random encounters and all enemies can be seen running around. The battle system is turn-based, with characters earning experience through battle. Other systems include looting, stealing, crafting, and a “complex skill and equipment system.” During gameplay, players will also be able to craft and customize their own airship to travel around the continent. Aside from that, though, there’s also a mech that can be used to get around environments.
