Classic Shmup ‘Castle of Shikigami 2’ Gets PC Release Date; Switch Release Planned for 2022
Degica Games announced they will publish the Alfa System-developed shmup Castle of Shikigami 2 on PC-via Steam on December 6, 2021. The publisher also confirmed that a Nintendo Switch release is still in development for a 2022 release.
Further, a free demo is available for players to test out the game before they buy. This is also a chance to see some of the updated systems in this version.
Initially released on PlayStation 2 in the west in 2004, Castle of Shikigami 2 is a fast-paced action shmup where players choose one of seven characters to play through a series of levels. Each character has unique abilities that alter their shot pattern and special Shikigami attacks. Further, they have their backstory that creates a pretty engaging storyline for a shooter.
This Switch and PC release will launch with a new Entry Mode for players of all skill levels to enjoy the five stages, which each feature three different parts. Further, players will find new enemy placements through this mode. In addition, the update release will have retranslated English version from the origin and a Dramatic Change Mode where players can switch between characters. Still, this mode can be enjoyed with two players as well.
The game will have Steam achievement and trading cards for those who care and will be featured as a playable demo during the Steam Next Fest, featuring two playable characters and two available stages.
We’ll be sure to keep you updated on the release of Castle of Shikigami 2.
