Developer Bytten Studio and publisher Raw Fury have announced the next major content drop for Cassette Beasts, titled the Sunshine Update, set to launch on April 7, 2025. The free version 1.8 update introduces a new companion character, Sunny, alongside new monsters, gameplay features, and a paid DLC for cosmetic content. A new trailer was released showcasing the upcoming content in action.
A Brighter Adventure on New Wirral
In Cassette Beasts, players explore the monster-filled island of New Wirral, collecting and fusing creatures using retro cassette tapes. The turn-based RPG earned praise for its creative fusion system and worldbuilding when it launched, and the game continues to expand with consistent post-launch support. The Sunshine Update puts the spotlight on Sunny, a fan-favorite character who now joins the roster of partner companions. Players who have completed the main storyline can dive into Sunny’s personal questline, which uncovers more about the mysterious “landkeepers” roaming the island.
The update also brings three new monsters to record and fuse, along with a new wing pattern system that lets players customize their movement abilities with different wing skins.
Beyond the game itself, the 2025 Cassette Beasts Showcase also revealed a few surprises, including new plushies and an acoustic album.
