The official website for Camelot, a Japanese developer primarily known for the Mario Golf, Mario Tennis, and Shining Force titles, has updated its official website with a render of Isaac, the protagonist of another of their iconic series, Golden Sun.
The message Isaac is sharing is viewable below, translated by our team’s Ryuji:
Golden Sun is a turn-based JRPG series that originated on the Gameboy Advance in 2001. A directly connected second entry, Golden Sun: The Lost Age, launched the year after, and the final released entry was Golden Sun: Dark Dawn, a DS title from 2010. These games are beloved for their compelling casts and remarkable soundtracks.
Unfortunately, the franchise has grown largely silent since its DS outing, with its primary source of mention being fans wanting Isaac to join Super Smash Bros.
While this render of Isaac could very well simply mean nothing, there is always that chance, however slim, that a Golden Sun revival may be imminent. Ports of the original three games or even a new entry altogether would be fantastic, but those are pipe dream scenarios. The more pessimistic and realistic side of me is just viewing this render of Isaac as a celebratory visage of Camelot’s history. Regardless, I doubt yearnings for Golden Sun to return will ever cease.
