Call of Duty: Modern Warfare to Reveal Multiplayer Content Next Month

Activision announced that the Infinity Ward developed first-person shooter Call of Duty: Modern Warfare will reveal its multiplayer offering on August 1. The game’s multiplayer mode was given praise during E3 2019, winning “Best Online Multiplay” from the Game Critics Awards as it aims to “deliver a game-changing online experience.”

So what can players expect? Well, aside from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare’s story, players will be able to jump into the game’s multiplayer mode and continue the experience with friends across multiple maps and modes. The game features unified progression across all modes as Call of Duty: Modern Warfare aims to unite the community with plans to support cross-play across platforms and remove the traditional season pass DLC. This is done in order to deliver a greater mix of more free content such as maps and weapons as well as community events post-launch.

The multiplayer is most likely going to look a lot like what fans of the series expect. However, the development team at Infinity Ward has always been good about creating new and interesting maps and features that make the game feel fresh. It’s left to be seen what they plan to bring to the series with this name because the name is still tough for me to wrap my head around. However, I got used to saying Call of Duty: Black Ops IIII, so nothing is off the table.

The August 1 reveal is scheduled to be streamed on the publisher’s Twitch channel.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is in development for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC and set to release on October 25.
