Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Revealed With Release Date; Story Campaign, Cross-Play Support, Zombies Confirmed

Activision revealed that the Treyarch and Raven Software-developed Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War will release on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC-via on November 13, with PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X version planned for a holiday 2020 release.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War will act as a direct sequel to the original Black Ops set in the early 1980s. Players will be dropped in the middle of the Cold War’s toughest battles and experience even more in the game’s story campaign. The developer has also confirmed that there will be an all-new cooperative Zombies game.

“We are excited to launch the next blockbuster title in Call of Duty, one of the most iconic franchises in entertainment with over 100 million players across console, PC and mobile,” said Bobby Kotick, CEO of Activision Blizzard. “Black Ops Cold War will deliver a thrilling experience that will not only set the bar for next-generation action games but also keep our players connected to their friends.”

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War will feature cross-play support across current and next-generation systems along with free post-launch content for online mode. This content will include maps, modes, and Zombie experiences.

“Today is only the start,” continued Treyarch Co-Studio Head Dan Bunting. “Treyarch will deliver a connected, next-generation Multiplayer, as well as a new Zombies experience – say nothing of our plans to expand and extend Call of Duty: Warzone with new experiences for all. There’s much more to come!”

During Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War’s campaign players will find themselves in the 1980s as a conspiracy unfolds. The story will center around historic figures as players learn the truth about some of the battles that took place around the world. During the campaign, players will visit East Berlin, Turkey, Vietnam, and Soviet-era Moscow as they try and stop a plot that aims to tip the global balance of power.
