Call of Cthulhu Has Gone Gold Just in Time For Halloween

Focus Home Intertainment revealed that the Cyanide developed survival adventure Call of Cthulhu has gone gold to release on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on October 4.

Announced back in January of 2014, Call of Cthulhu has gone through several gameplay and developer changes since inception, but the time has come for the game to release.

Call of Cthulhu follows the events of the H.P. Lovecraft short story and pen and paper RPG. In the game, nothing is as it seems, terrible creatures and misleading characters await the player on Darkwater island. The story follows Detective Pierce who is investigating the strange happenings and murder of Serah Hawkins. However, he seems to begin to lose his mind and the only hope is that solving this case will bring him back to sanity.

Gameplay has players investigating through the world as Pierce attempts to determine what is real or an illusion. The game puts a doubt on the player’s sense of reality and offers a choice system that changes the narrative.

Author’s take: I’ve been hearing about this game for years so I’m pretty excited to finally see what has come of it. The developers seem to have tied in the lore of Cthulhu to the best of their ability, but the gameplay and narrative will surely be the final factor into telling if we will see more Cthulhu titles from this team.
