The Caligula Effect 2 Showcases Cast and Theme Song in new Japanese Trailer
A new trailer for The Caligula Effect 2 has been shown off during a Japanese livestream, showing off the JRPG’s playable cast and their opposition in more detail. It also shows off what seems to be the title’s main theme song ‘SING’, written and composed by vocaloid producer sasakure.UK, known for their Doomsday series of vocaloid music videos.
The Caligula Effect 2 introduces players to a virtuadoll named Regret who has created the world of Redo in order to save people from their past regrets by unknowingly imprisoning them in a simulation. However, this “paradise” is shaken to the core when a virtual idol named χ breaks into Regret’s virtual reality and restores a high school student’s memories of the real world. In order to escape Redo, they re-establish the Go-Home Club, a resistance group that seeks to fight against Regret and her enforcers, the Obbligato Musicians.
This new trailer also shows off the new ‘Floor Jack’ mechanic, in which the player will be able to summon χ in battle to sing one of the songs from the game when the voltage meter is full. Similar to the special move mechanic in Bravely Default, the song will grant the party buffs for the duration of the piece.
A preview of the first Obliggato musician’s song, and a reveal of the vocaloid producer behind it will be shown off on March 1st.
The Caligula Effect 2 was first announced in the Japanese Nintendo Direct but has now been confirmed for the west in Fall 2021. In case you missed it, check out our review of The Caligula Effect Overdose.
