The Game Bakers shared new details during the PC Gaming Show Most Wanted 2025, confirming that their survival-focused climbing game Cairn releases on January 29, 2026 for PlayStation 5 and PC via Steam. The game will be priced at $29.99. In case you missed it, the game was previously delayed for polish.
A Deluxe Edition will be available for $36.99. It includes a digital Kami travel guide illustrated by comic artist Mathieu Bablet and three in-game keepsakes tied to Aava’s climb. A limited-time discount drops the Deluxe Edition to $34.20.
Cairn is the studio’s next project following Furi and Haven. It shifts to a grounded survival climber where you chart your own ascent across Mount Kami. You plan routes, place pitons, manage resources, and try to keep Aava alive as she pushes toward a summit no one has reached before.
The story follows Aava as she steps away from her life below and focuses on the climb she has trained for. The game includes about 15 hours of playtime on a first run, supported by nearly an hour of cinematic cutscenes performed by a cast of ten actors. Along the way, you’ll run into other climbers and see traces of old expeditions, along with remnants of a forgotten troglodyte culture scattered across the mountain. A full completion run with extra modes should take around 18 to 20 hours.
