P.A. Works Reveals New Original TV Anime ‘Buddy Daddies’; Character Designs by Katsumi Enami

Anime studio P.A. Works announced a brand-new anime arriving in January 2023 called Buddy Daddies. The anime follows a pair of professional assassins, Kazuki and Rei, who accidentally end up taking care of a mob boss’ daughter. This project is a collaboration between the aforementioned studio and Nitroplus.

Furthermore, the original character design drafts are done by none other than Katsumi Enami, who you may know for their work with Nihon Falcom’s Trails/Kiseki series. The tagline of the anime is “Two buddy assassins. Their most formidable target yet is… a little girl!?

The staff consists of Yoshiyuki Asai as the director, Vio Shimokura, who was also a scenario collaborator on Steins;Gate, overseeing the series scripts with Yuuko Kakihara, Katsumi Enami is drafting the original character designs, and finally, Round Table’s Katsutoshi Kitagawa is composing the music.

Three Japanese cast members were also revealed: Toshiyuki Toyonaga will be voicing Kazuki Kurusu, Kouki Uchiyama will be voicing Rei Suwa, the taciturn-looking spy, and Hina Kino will be voicing the four-year-old Miri Unasaka that Kazuki and Rei take care of.

The story of Buddy Daddies follows Kazuki Kurusu, a criminal contractor/coordinator who lives with his best friend, Rei Suwa, a professional assassin who has been raised from childhood to be a contract killer. Kazuki is outgoing and loves gambling and women, while Rei is a man of few words who spends his off time playing video games. One day, the two buddies end up caring for Miri Unasaka, a four year old girl whose father is a mafia boss, after Miri accidentally wanders into a firefight in a hotel while looking for her father.
