Arc System Works and Taito have announced BUBBLE BOBBLE Sugar Dungeons Boosted, a major free update for Bubble Bobble Sugar Dungeons. The update arrives on August 20, 2026, across Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, and PC via Steam for all existing owners.
The update expands the original release with new content and system changes, tied to the series’ 40th anniversary. One of the major additions is a new Castle stage, which introduces a more structured, maze-like layout with interconnected rooms.
The update also adds Bob’s Bonus Gates, introducing Bub’s twin brother Bob. These gates offer different route options during runs, including stages focused on treasure collection, enemy-heavy areas for combo scoring, or the ability to skip multiple floors entirely. Item drops have also been reworked, with increased variety and improved drop rates. New items have been added, too.
In addition to gameplay changes, the update includes a port of the 1997 home console version of Bubble Symphony.
