Bravely Default & Bravely Second: End Layer Network Servers Shutting Down June 2023

Square Enix and the Bravely series’ general producer, Tomoya Asano, have announced that the network support for Bravely Default and Bravely Second: End Layer on 3DS will cease on June 30, 2023, at 12 PM Japan Standard Time. Additionally, they expect that “Net Friend Invites and sending Nemeses will no longer be available.”

In May 2023, friend registration was discontinued, and SP drink purchases were made unavailable. Still, StreetPass functionality will remain implemented, and, for those unaware, the online aspects of the Bravely games are purely supplemental and are not necessary for completing their stories. However, some battles may be a bit more challenging than initially intended.

Hopefully, we will see both of these titles receive modern ports in the near future. For as much as I enjoyed Bravely Default II, I think I’ll always prefer the previous two games.

In case you missed it, Bravely Second received its eighth-year anniversary artwork.
