3D Isometric Shmup ‘Blue Rider’ Gets Switch Release Next Week and New Trailer

EasyAsiaSoft announced that they will publish Ratalaika Games’ 3D shmup Blue Rider on December 13 for Nintendo Switch.

Originally launched in 2016 on PC, Blue Rider on Switch will include a handful of new updates, balance adjustments, and improvements. The game’s features will include online leaderboards, three adjustable difficulty settings, and additional language support.

Blue Rider aims to offer arcade shmup gameplay across 9 stages and a large variety of enemies. Players can collect power-ups, rack up high scores by shooting down enemies, upgrade ships, and face off against bosses.

A new trailer was released showing gameplay from the switch version and gives players a preview of a few of the game’s stages.

Blue Rider will be available digitally on Nintendo Switch eShop for $9.99.

Author’s take: I haven’t played a shmup in a 3D environment like this in a while. I’d be interested to see how this one controls because from the trailer it looks like it could be a fairly decent shmup. These smaller team titles shouldn’t be overlooked, 10 bucks can go a long way when it comes to the fun that can be had with these smaller budget games. Oh well, we shall see next week.
