505 Games announced that the long-awaited release of Artplay developed Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night from Koji Igarashi will launch on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC-via Steam and GOG on June 18, with the Nintendo Switch version launching on June 25.
Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night is set in 18th century England where a dark force has caused a castle to appear bringing with it powerful crystal shards. Players will assume the role of Miriam, an orphan who has been cursed by an alchemist which slowly crystallizes her body. In order to save herself and the world, Miriam fights through the castle to defeat the summoner Gebel and his minions. Along the way, she will be able to collect, craft, and unlock various weapons and equipment to help her on her quest.
Gameplay features side-scrolling action that marks Koji Igarashi’s return to the Igavania genre that so many players enjoy today. Players will be able to craft and upgrade equipment as they make their way through the game as well as change Miriam’s appearance.
Additionally, the developer released a new trailer that highlights the changes that the team has made over the years, in the most Iga way possible.
