Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night Drops Mac and Linux Support But “Development Has Reached Its Peak”

ArtPlay announced via their Kickstarter that their crowdfunded IGAvania Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night will be dropping support of two more platforms: Mac and Linux.

In order to support the game’s backers, the team has set up an email for backers of the Mac and Linux version to change their requested platform. This is in addition to the canceled PlayStation Vita version. Bloodstained originally launched as a Kickstarter in 2015 but has since entered a development loop of multiple development teams and alterations.

However, to add a little bit of positivity to the announcement the team has confirmed that the game’s development has reached its peak and is now going through performance checks. Additionally, enemy placement is being worked and bugs are being worked out. Currently, the WayForward is helping with development including asset creations and lighting adjustments. They revealed a new enemy called Forneus, a demon fish, which will be “useful for cooking”.

Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night is in development for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC in 2019.

Author’s take: Man this game is in bad shape. I think there is a good story to be told about this game’s development and the trials that the team have encountered.
