505 Games has launched a free update for the Artplay developed Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night from Koji Igarashi for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
The update is available now and is the latest in a batch of free DLC created for the adventure. Returning players will find a new Classic Mode where players will find a challenge as they must get through the castle once again with limited mobility, something retro fans will be well acquainted with.
Additionally, the publisher revealed a Kingdom crossover where players will find a new area that resembles the modern pixel art of Kingdom. This area will feature a new boss, the Archer Familiar Shard, and a new piece of equipment: the Crown Head Gear, which reduces damage at the cost of gold.
“For me, it was a dream come true to collaborate with Koji Igarashi, a design influence of mine for years. So, it goes without saying working with the Bloodstained universe was an opportunity we couldn’t pass up, and we can’t wait to play Dead Lands in Bloodstained,” said Gordon Van Dyke, co-founder of Raw Fury and now the founder of Stumpy Squid.
“We remain dedicated to giving our fans new ways to experience Bloodstained, and our collaboration with Raw Fury spanning the last two years has opened both of our worlds,” said Koji Igarashi, founder, Artplay. “In addition to the Kingdom: Two Crowns crossover, we’re also now opening Classic Mode, a new gameplay experience that will deliver a rush of nostalgia that many of our fans crave.”
Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night is set in 18th century England where a dark force has caused a castle to appear, bringing with it powerful crystal shards. Players will assume the role of Miriam, an orphan who has been cursed by an alchemist, which slowly crystallizes her body.
Miriam fights through the castle to defeat the summoner Gebel and his minions to save herself and the world. Along the way, she will be able to collect, craft, and unlock various weapons and equipment to help her on her quest.
