Blasphemous Reveals Bloodstained Crossover Adding Miriam in Free Update Coming Later This Week

Team17 and developer Game Kitchen announced a crossover between their gothic action sidescroller Blasphemous and the just as gothic action sidescroller from 505 Games and ArtPlay, Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night, coming to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC on February 18.

The update titled “Strife and Ruin” will be free for all players and finds Miriam as a playable character. Evidently, she’s found her way into this alternate reality and needs to pass a series of tests if she ever hopes to return to her world. Additionally, the update adds a Boss Rush Mode, which unlocks after completing the main story. Each run is scored based on various factors to award players for their skills.

Lastly, a “Demake” section has been added as an homage to classic 8-bit platformers, where players can play inside an arcade cabinet that is hidden in a secret location on Cvstodia. The gameplay will alter slightly, but the goal will be to gather five golden skulls and defeat a new boss for rewards. There are also new screen overlays to emulate older TV effects.

During Blasphemous, players will utilize combos and various attacks to get through enemies who stand in their way. The game features pixel art designs and plenty of blood to make anyone feel a little sick. The game also features bosses that require a bit of strategy and planning as players need to memorize their attack patterns.

Players will be able to customize their character by learning new skills and upgrading their character’s abilities. Such as with a “Sacred Lunge,” which perfects the lunge technique and makes better use of the dodge impulse to make it reach further.
