Metroidvania Souls-like ‘Blasphemous 2’ Announces Xbox One & PS4 Fall 2023 Release

Team17 announced that The Game Kitchen-developed metroidvania souls-like, Blasphemous 2 will launch for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One this Fall. The team has begun working on these versions, which is significant, as the title was previously confirmed only for PC and current-generation consoles.

Players can look forward to a new storyline continuing from the first game’s free Wounds of Eventide DLC, where The Penitent One returns to battle new foes and explore new locales. Fans can anticipate much of the same bloody action that became so beloved in the previous entry, with even more enemies to learn the patterns of and decimate.

The world is fully nonlinear, meaning every player will craft their own journey across their playtime alongside heavy character customization with new weapons. Of course, the boss battles are touted as titanic and challenging, pushing your skills to your limits. Moreover, various NPCs will be interactable, and their motivations and actions will all differ. For instance, some may make requests while others won’t be as friendly.

In case you missed it, here are our impressions of the Blasphemous DLC Blasphemous: Strife and Ruin.
