MercurySteam and 505 Games have announced that a free demo for their upcoming action-adventure game, Blades of Fire, will be made available on May 15, 2025.
Prospective players can anticipate the game’s first few hours being playable, with saved data carrying over to the full release. This news was shared in a recent four-minute trailer showcasing the game’s world.
About Blades of Fire
The story follows Aran de Lira, the last warrior capable of wielding steel, and his companion Adso, a scholar who possesses knowledge of lost myths and sacred tongues.
The newly crowned Queen Nerea has cast a powerful spell that turns steel into stone, leaving only her army able to wield divine metal weapons. Aran and Adso decide to challenge her rule.
The game features a weapon-forging system where players can craft and customize their arsenal using Forge Scrolls. The materials used in crafting will affect characteristics such as weight, durability, and attack capabilities. Seven distinct weapon families and over 30 unique Forge Scrolls allow extensive customization and strategic combat choices.
Combat is designed to be tactical and dynamic, requiring players to target specific enemy weaknesses. Depending on the opponent’s armor and abilities, different attack types, such as slashes, stabs, and bludgeoning strikes, must be used. The game also introduces Adso as an essential companion, providing insights into enemies and historical lore while supporting Aran in battle. Blades of Fire will feature over 50 enemy types, each with unique combat styles and weaponry.
Blades of Fire will be released on May 22, 2025, via the Epic Games Store for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
There will be language support for English, French, Italian, German, Spanish (Spain), Chinese (Simplified), Chinese (Traditional), Japanese, and Korean.
