Black Desert Franchise has Surpassed $1 Billion in Gross Sales Across All Platforms
Pearl Abyss announced that their Black Desert franchise has now surpassed $1 billion in gross sales across all platforms globally.
Having launched on PC, Mobile, and Xbox One, the Black Desert franchise has accrued over 18 million registered users and is available in over 150 countries. The team plans to continue on their global success by launching Black Desert Mobile to the west by the end of 2019.
“We’re proud of what this achievement represents – the hard work and dedication from our teams over the past four years and the support from a community of fans around the world,” Said Robin Jung, CEO of Pearl Abyss, “With over 30% of gross sales for Black Desert stemming from mobile platforms, which saw an initial release in Asia in the past year, we’re confident that sales are accelerating. Pearl Abyss is optimistic for the future of Black Desert, and we look forward to launching Black Desert Mobile globally by the end of the year.”
Pearl Abyss was founded in 2010 by game producer Dae-il Kim who grew the team from only seven people. Kim now acts as Development Director with the company having over 700 employees based globally. Pearl Abyss is dedicated to expanding the availability of Black Desert to the world and supporting the game with updates and content. However, the company is still working on new MMO titles.
