BitSummit Gaiden Revealed as Digital Japanese Indie Showcase Beginning on June 27

BitSummit announced their plans to hose their own digital event this year since many large gatherings have been canceled due to the COVID-19 outbreak.

The organizers will host BitSummit Gaiden, a live stream ever beginning on June 27 through June 28. The event will feature more than 75 games from global developers. Additionally, from June 26 through July 11, Utomik will host demos of a select number of games for players to try out.

Evidently, more information can be found on these demos on the Bitsummit Discord server. The server will also be a place for players to connect with the developers and live chat with them about their games.

The stream will take place on Twitch and will features developer interviews and discussions along with Let’s Plays, and giveaway opportunities. Games have been assigned teams themed around past BitSummit mascots, so those watching are encouraged to support their favorite teams by engaging with content from those developers.

“Gaiden loosely translates to ‘side-story’ in Japanese, and while this new incarnation has a different format, we’re bringing back all the things that make BitSummit special,” John Davis, BitSummit Organizing Committee. “BitSummit Gaiden will still have great indie games, amazing music, thought-provoking talks with game industry luminaries, and a thriving community eager to check out the fun and innovative titles.”

BitSummit Gaiden is produced by Japan Independent Games Association (JIGA), along with the City of Kyoto, and Kyoto CMEX (Cross Media Experience).
