Otome Visual Novel ‘Birushana: Rising Flower of Genpei’ Gets a New Trailer Detailing the Main Characters

Idea Factory International has shared a new trailer for Birushana: Rising Flower of Genpei. Called Love & War, the trailer serves as an introduction of the game’s main cast. The otome visual novel developed as collaboration between Idea Factory’s Otomate branch and RED Corporation will be available in English on June 28, 2022 for the Nintendo Switch.

Also known as Birushana Senki in Japan, the game tells the story of the young heir of the Genji clan, Shanao. Due to the rivalry with the Heiji, the Genji family has been thoroughly decimated, leaving this young heir to the clan. However, this last hope of the Genji hides a secret: Shanao is actually a woman.

Birushana‘s story shows the conflicting emotions of this young woman. On one hand, she feels the duty of living up to her family name and can see how people are suffering under the Heiji’s rule and ambitions. On the other hand, she really only wanted to one day be able to live for herself in peaceful circumstances.

Depending on player’s choices, Shanao will face different situations, seeing much of the circumstances of that period of time in Japan. What doesn’t change in the historical drama tale is that she meets various guys who will be an important part of her life and potential romantic partners.

In her training over the years, she has always spent a lot of time with her childhood friend Shungen (VA: Soma Saito). One day she’ll meet a Heiji warrior called Noritsune Taira (VA: Kengo Kawanishi), whose desire to fight her can be a little too passionate. During the various events of the story, she’ll also meet a burly man who promises to be her loyal vessel, Benkei Musashibo (VA: Yuichiro Umehara).

Also a part of the Heiji we have the scheming and mysterious tactician called Tomomori Taira (VA: Jun Fukuyama). And last but not least, she’ll also have the chance to meet her exiled brother Yoritomo Minamoto (VA: Makoto Furukawa) who happens to have a cold attitude towards her. As Shanao makes a variety of choices, she’ll have to face the war while looking for her true path.
