Neo Geo Pocket Mech-Building RPG ‘Biomotor Unitron’ Coming to Switch This Week

SNK has announced the rerelease of Biomotor Unitron on Nintendo Switch. Originally released for the Neo Geo Pocket in 1999, the title is a turn-based RPG and one of the few of its kind in the handheld system. It’ll be available on Nintendo’s hybrid console on May 26, 2022 at the price of $7.99.

Biomotor Unitron allows the player to pick a character from a list of fantasy races to be the newcomer pilot to the Unitron competition, while the member of the opposite genre in the same race will be your mechanic. The list includes humans, foresters (elves, basically), mariners (merfolk), birdians (angel-like creatures) or lizardmen. Each of which are naturally aligned with one elemental affinity.

Once you pick your character, you’ll have to control your mech called Unitron and fight your way to the top. In order to level up, you’ll have to explore randomly-generated dungeons. Each of those hides a powerful boss in the end, and you’ll have to explore them a lot to level up for the proper tournament at the city.

Another important aspect of the game is customization, as you can use various parts to make the mech of your dream. For instance, you can make a robot with tank legs and drills for arms or use multiple kinds of firearms. These parts can affect not only the power but also which moves are available and the affinity of the machine.
