Before Playing Trails to Azure, Check Out This Bridging Drama CD Taking Place After Zero, Translated by Fans
So, I learned something new today. The Trails series is known for having supplementary material, such as drama CDs. Still, aside from the officially translated ones of Trails of Cold Steel I and II, it’s never crossed my mind to investigate them further.
However, I recently stumbled upon one that is rather significant, as it takes place between Trails from Zero and Trails to Azure, acting as a bridge between the two games. In Trails to Azure, you’re gradually informed of certain developments that happened offscreen after the events of Trails from Zero, so you don’t see them happen firsthand.
As a result, this drama CD is arguably a must-experience for fans before diving into the sequel. Of course, you don’t have to read/listen to the drama CD before playing Azure; you’ll understand the title’s events just fine. Still, the greater context it provides will assuredly aid enjoyability.
This drama CD, called “Road to the Future,” was packaged in limited editions sold throughout Japan, and fans have fully translated it. It is hosted by Geofront, the team behind the Trails from Zero and Trails to Azure fan translations that publisher NIS America acquired.
