Bayonetta 3 Showcases & Discusses Parallel-World Designs of Bayonetta; β1 + β3

Developer PlatinumGames has published a new official blog post and YouTube video from character designer Mari Shimazaki discussing the character designs of their recently released action title, Bayonetta 3, for the third time.

Firstly, one of the parallel-world versions of Bayonetta, β1, is showcased. Found in Tokyo, she’s the leader of a local street gang. Her high-heeled yo-yo sneakers are emphasized as arguably the most distinct part of her design since, unlike the primary iteration of the character, these parallel-world versions could not have their clothes form with their hair.

Then, Bayonetta β3 is discussed, who was designed to be “pyramid-incarnate,” as illustrated by her mask. Every β iteration of Bayonetta has the same face model, so the only way to make each of them unique was to have differing facial identifiers, like masks or accessories.
