Battlefield 2042 Announced for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S; Check Out the First Trailer
Publisher Electronic Arts has announced Battlefield 2042, the next game in the FPS series. They revealed a cinematic trailer today and a gameplay one is coming on June 13. Developed by DICE, the game will be available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and PC (Steam, Origin, Epic Store) on October 22.
The company describes Battlefield 2042 as an evolution to the franchise and a tentative to revolutionize the modern multiplayer sandbox games. The expectation is for intense combat with unpredictable real-time events. It’ll include the largest maps the series has ever had and players on PC, PS5 and the Xbox Series models will be able to play missions with up to 128 people.
Battlefield 2042 takes place in the near future, in a world suffering shortages of food, clean water and energy. As people end up massively migrating to other countries, the United States and Russia start a new all-out war.
In the new game, players will have access to a new class of soldiers, the Specialists. With access to cutting-edge technology, including weapons, equipment and vehicles, they are meant to offer creative freedom to play style allowing players to find their best strategies for the game.
The company has also announced the game will feature three modes. All-Out Warfare will include what fans know as Conquest and Breakthrough with its large-scale battles. On the other hand, Hazard Zone will be a new squad-based game style that should be similar to other games from DICE. Last but not least, there’ll be a third yet-to-be-announced mode that is being teased as “a love letter to Battlefield fans”, but more details are still undisclosed.
