Tales of Zestiria is one of the more contentious entries of the Tales of franchise, primarily due to its numerous, overwhelming gameplay systems that are not explained well. This title would then receive an anime adaptation by Ufotable titled Tales of Zestiria the X that altered select story elements. Additionally, a full prequel game, Tales of Berseria, eventually launched, and that received far more positive reception.
Tales of Zestiria follows protagonist Sorey and his friend, Mikleo, a Seraph of Water. The former becomes the Shepherd, tasked with purifying the land of Hellions; monsters spawned into being by overwhelmingly negative emotion. Combat lets Sorey and another human character, Rose, fuse with Seraphim, instilling elemental affinities.
The title’s soundtrack is quite notable as it boasts the efforts of both Motoi Sakuraba and Go Shiina, making many of the songs here some of the most memorable in the entire Tales of franchise.
