Bandai Namco Open to Bringing Older Tales of Games West, But Plenty of Thought is Needed for How to Deliver Them

IGN recently interviewed the producer of Tales of Arise, Yusuke Tomizawa, about the incoming Beyond the Dawn story expansion. However, one topic discussed in this interview is the notion of bringing older Tales of games West.

Tomizawa said the idea of bringing older Tales of Games West is “always actually on [their] minds.” However, there’s plenty of thought that goes into the process, and it isn’t as easy as one may assume it to be.

You can view some quotes from Tomizawa below:

“What are the best formats? The best platforms? Also, should we deliver exactly the same contents nowadays?”

“We’d also like to foster those newcomers who haven’t actually had the chance to enjoy those games, but started playing the franchise with Arise. We should also provide them access to a full localization. So if we would like to deliver those old classic catalogs, we need to be fully prepared for those newcomers as well.”

You can view additional details via IGN’s coverage.

We previously discussed the number of Tales of games that have never been localized and those that have never been ported, making most of the franchise notably inaccessible to contemporary audiences.

Tales of Arise Beyond the Dawn will launch for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam on November 9, 2023.
