Sonic the Hedgehog Creators’ ‘Balan Wonderworld’ Gets Release Date Across All Platforms and Co-op Details

Square Enix announced that Balan Wonderworld will launch on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Nintendo Switch, and PC-via Steam on March 26, 2021.

Balan Wonderworld has players set off on a journey through Wonderworld guided by an energetic maestro named Balan, who will help players restore balance to the world by clearing it of Negati, a physical manifestation of worry and negative emotions.

During gameplay, players can freely explore the world across multiple areas while collecting over 80 unique costumes that assist in various ways. Each costume has a special power, such as a Pumpkin Puncher outfit that allows players to smash through obstacles.

A trailer was released today, showing the game’s cooperative multiplayer features. During this mode, players can explore the game in local co-op and overcome challenges together. Furthermore, players can work independently to tackle different objectives or together.

The team working on Balan Wonderworld includes director Yuji Naka (Sonic the Hedgehog Franchise Creator, Team Sonic Co-Founder), and Character Designer Naoto Ohshima (Sonic the Hedgehog, Doctor Eggman, Team Sonic Co-Founder). This marks the first game the two have worked on together in 20 years.
