’80s Style Visual Novel ‘Bahnsen Knights’ Gets New December Release Date in Gameplay Trailer

Chorus Worldwide Games announced that the LCB Game Studio-developed retro visual novel Bahnsen Knights will launch on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam on December 14, 2023. The game was supposed to be released this month, but an unexpected death in the family of artist Fernando “Fer” Martínez Ruppel caused some delays, which is completely understandable. This game is dedicated to the memory of Mariana.

Bahnsen Knights is a follow-up to Mothmen 1966 and Varney Lake, which act as the first two entries to this trilogy. Both the first chapters of Mothmen 1966 and Varney Lake can be played during Steam Next Fest. Further, the first two chapters are available to play now of Bahnsen Knights.

The two-member development team is diligently resuming work on the final installment of their trilogy, which draws inspiration from the pulp fiction of the 1950s and the home computer graphics of the 1980s. This ongoing effort aims to restore a sense of normalcy to their work. As part of the October Steam Next Fest, a new demo is now accessible on Steam for both PC and Mac platforms. This demo provides players with a glimpse into the first two chapters of the forthcoming game.

Players are invited to immerse themselves in a corrupt county fraught with perilous tornadoes and a malevolent cult that fervently believes these cataclysmic storms are the handiwork of the devil, unleashed to wreak havoc upon lives and landscapes alike. Assuming the role of Boulder, an undercover detective on a mission to unravel the mystery surrounding the disappearance of his former partner and dear friend, Cupra, players must navigate the complex narrative by making substantial and potentially life-altering decisions.

The story leads players to follow Toni, the enigmatic leader of the Bahnsen Knights, who, in a peculiar twist of fate, was once an ordinary car salesman. Journeying into the unsettling perspectives of these dark and unhinged individuals, players must navigate their way through treacherous terrain. This journey involves encounters with a menacing fleet of 1983 Ford Sierras, an exploration of local establishments like Danny’s Bar, and the unraveling of the enigmatic phenomenon known as “route exorcisms,” a topic that frequently occupies the conversations of the county’s inhabitants.
