Axiom Verge 2 Shows Off New Gameplay in Trailer; No Release Date Provided, But We Can Wait

Developer Thomas Happ Games released new gameplay from the Metroidvania action-adventure Axiom Verge 2 coming later in 2021.

The gameplay titled “Breach” shows off new ways of traversal using a grappling hook and platforming skills and ways to upgrade your abilities. One of the skills in the game is hacking, where players can interact with robots and use them to help clear a path, overwhelm an enemy, or even overheat a large enemy. There is also a drone that can explore the environment and dive further into this technological new world.

Axiom Verge 2 aims to expand on the universe created in the series as players meet new characters and go on a brand-new adventure. Additionally, the developer has confirmed that the game will feature additional abilities and gameplay mechanics new to the series.

The game was previously announced to release in 2020, but there was a delay due to the coronavirus. Further reasons were to polish some of the new mechanics.  Elements such as the enemies being more sophisticated as they detect your presence instead of being on a set path. Furthermore, an additional tool is used to glitch the enemies and environments that give players more control. There’s also a factor in which the art has been updated and is much more complex than the original game.
