Playdius announced that the Aurélien Regard developed action RPG Away: Journey to the Unexpected will release on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC in February 2019. However, the game has a bit of a staggered release schedule so here’s a fancy bullet point list for you:
- 5 February 2019 – PS4
- 7 February 2019 – Switch
- 8 February 2019 – Xbox One
- February 2019 – PC (exact date TBC)
Away: Journey to the Unexpected puts players in the role of an adventurer who is really good at making “kick-ass friends”. The game combines first-person exploration and action to give players the most out of it negotiation mechanics and rouge-lite systems. Players will recruit new characters to join their team and fight through various levels.
Additionally, a new story trailer was released which shows gameplay and some of the characters that players will be able to meet.
You can watch the trailer below:
Author’s take: This game looks pretty great and I’m interested to see how they approach the mechanics of negotiating with enemies and other characters. I’d also like to know more about the story and world that this game exists in and why it has come to this.
