Atelier Ryza Series Reveals 1 Million Shipments Worldwide
Koei Tecmo announced that the Gust-developed adventure RPGs, Atelier Ryza: Ever Darkness & the Secret Hideout and Atelier Ryza 2: Lost Legends & the Secret Fairy have shipped over 1 million copies worldwide.
The milestone is a big one for the series that is largely considered a niche JRPG with a contain fan group. However, that group seems to be growing as more players find themselves jumping into the world to see what all the hype is about surrounding this new alchemist named Ryza.
Character designer Toridamono released a new illustration for the milestone. The publisher has plans to release more costume DLC and there will be a live stream event on March 31 with more details.
Atelier Ryza 2: Lost Legends & the Secret Fairy takes place after the events of Atelier Ryza: Ever Darkness & the Secret Hideout, which shipped 500,000 copies worldwide. Atelier Ryza tells the story of a new character in the Atelier series, Ryzalin, a typical everyday girl who has become bored with her mundane lifestyle. After meeting someone special, she discovers alchemy, and her whole life changes. She then sets out on an adventure that she never thought she’d go on.
We’ll share the full interview where we talk about Ryza’s growth between games soon.
