Atelier Ryza 2 Will Not be Censored in the West Despite Trailer Differences

Koei Tecmo has confirmed that the Gust-developed adventure RPG, Atelier Ryza 2: Lost Legends & the Secret Fairy, will launch not be censored in the west when it launches on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and PC release this Winter.

The idea that the game would be censored arose when two different trailers were shown during Tokyo Game Show Online and the one released in the west covered a character, who was thought to be showing too much skin. This had fans speak up about a possibility that the game’s western release would be censored.

However, the publisher shared on Twitter: Despite the differences in Atelier Ryza 2 promotional videos recently shown at TGS, we want to assure fans that the game itself will not be censored in the West. We hope everyone is looking forward to the upcoming adventure!

So rejoice nerds, your Ryza is coming west untouched and you’ll be able to go on the same adventure that Japanese players are going on.

Atelier Ryza 2: Lost Legends & the Secret Fairy takes place after the events of Atelier Ryza: Ever Darkness & the Secret Hideout, which shipped 420,000 copies worldwide. Atelier Ryza tells the story of a new character in the Atelier series, Ryzalin, a typical everyday girl who has become bored with her mundane lifestyle. After meeting someone special, she discovers alchemy and her whole life changes. She then sets out on an adventure that she never thought she’d go on.
