The Head of Gust, Junzo Hosoi, stated that development completion for Atelier Marie Remake: The Alchemist of Salburg is at 95%. His full comment has been translated below via our team’s Ryuji:
“For the last title to celebrate 25 years of Atelier, we have decided to remake Atelier Marie. I hope that even fans who have recently gotten into the Atelier series, as well as fans of the original version, can both enjoy it.”
We’ll be sure to keep you updated with the development of Atelier Marie Remake: The Alchemist of Salburg.
Atelier Marie Remake: The Alchemist of Salburg is the first title in the Atelier franchise, initially available on PlayStation 1 before seeing Sega Saturn, PC, Dreamcast, PlayStation 2, and mobile ports. The debut entry follows the titular protagonist, who’s the worst in her class and is in danger of failing, but she’s given a chance to pass if she can produce an exceptional item within five years of receiving her own Atelier.
Gameplay has the same elements future entries would utilize, such as gathering ingredients, interacting with townsfolk, and performing battles. Of course, there are notable differences, and this incoming remake appears to be taking liberties.
In addition to general enhancements and new character events, the remake will feature a new Unlimited Mode, allowing players to “play at a more relaxed pace,” removing the time limit. There will be new character events, too. Additionally, the Atelier Marie Plus: The Alchemist of Salburg, Gust Extra BGM Costume Set, and “Another Look” Costume Set will be granted with the Digital Deluxe Edition.
Atelier Marie Remake: The Alchemist of Salburg will launch for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam on July 13, 2023.
