Gust and Koei Tecmo have revealed new gameplay details for their upcoming Atelier Marie Remake: The Alchemist of Salburg, detailing the Photo Mode and minigames. Throughout the titles, players can take photos of Marie and her companions with various poses and expressions.
Stamps and other items can then be used to decorate these images, and visiting the “Hall of Memories” area will allow players to alter photos’ filters, frames, and camera angles.
Moreover, six minigames have been remade for this release: Punipuni Hammer, Golden Salmon Search, Catch Those Rats, Apple Rush, Treasure Hunt, and Name Collector. They can be played from within the Extras menu, and succeeding will provide new items.
Atelier Marie: The Alchemist of Salburg is the first title in the Atelier franchise, initially available on PlayStation 1 before seeing Sega Saturn, PC, Dreamcast, PlayStation 2, and mobile ports. The debut entry follows the titular protagonist, who’s the worst in her class and is in danger of failing, but she’s given a chance to pass if she can produce an exceptional item within five years of receiving her own Atelier.
Gameplay has the same elements future entries would utilize, such as gathering ingredients, interacting with townsfolk, and performing battles. Of course, there are notable differences, and this incoming remake appears to be taking liberties.
In addition to general enhancements and new character events, Atelier Marie Remake: The Alchemist of Salburg will feature a new Unlimited Mode, allowing players to “play at a more relaxed pace,” removing the time limit. There will be new character events, too. Additionally, the Atelier Marie Plus: The Alchemist of Salburg, Gust Extra BGM Costume Set, and “Another Look” Costume Set will be granted with the Digital Deluxe Edition.
