Koei Tecmo Games director, Yuuki Katsumata, stated that the estimated playtime for Atelier Marie Remake: The Alchemist of Salburg will be 10 hours. Unfortunately, he doesn’t specify if this number solely regards pursuing the main story or also doing side content. However, according to fans who have played the original game and resources like How Long to Beat, simply beating the title took roughly 5 hours, while doing optional content added on another 5 or so.
With that being the case, perhaps this 10-hour estimation is simply what the average player will spend, comprising some side content, but not necessarily on a completionist level. Additionally, it is worth noting that this remake is taking liberties and will include new character events, which may increase the playtime to varying extents.
Katsumata’s full comment pertaining to the Atelier Marie Remake: The Alchemist of Salburg playtime has been translated below via our team’s Ryuji:
“One playthrough will take approximately 10 hours. Still, as you get used to the mechanics, subsequent playthroughs might take you even less.”

In case you missed it, the Head of Gust said that the development progress for Atelier Marie Remake: The Alchemist of Salburg is 95% complete.
Atelier Marie Remake: The Alchemist of Salburg is the first title in the Atelier franchise, initially available on PlayStation 1 before seeing Sega Saturn, PC, Dreamcast, PlayStation 2, and mobile ports. The debut entry follows the titular protagonist, who’s the worst in her class and is in danger of failing, but she’s given a chance to pass if she can produce an exceptional item within five years of receiving her own Atelier.
Gameplay has the same elements future entries would utilize, such as gathering ingredients, interacting with townsfolk, and performing battles. Of course, there are notable differences, and this incoming remake appears to be taking liberties.
In addition to general enhancements and new character events, the remake will feature a new Unlimited Mode, allowing players to “play at a more relaxed pace,” removing the time limit. There will be new character events, too. Additionally, the Atelier Marie Plus: The Alchemist of Salburg, Gust Extra BGM Costume Set, and “Another Look” Costume Set will be granted with the Digital Deluxe Edition.
Atelier Marie Remake: The Alchemist of Salburg will launch for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam on July 13, 2023.
