Atelier Elie & Atelier Lilie Remakes Are Possible, Says Gust Head; Company Wants Entire Atelier Series in Digital Stores

Siliconera recently interviewed the Head of developer Gust, Junzo Hosoi, about the upcoming Atelier Marie Remake: The Alchemist of Salburg. Several questions are asked pertaining to the title’s improved systems and added features.

However, one particular exchange, while brief, revealed that Hosoi believes that remakes of Atelier Elie: The Alchemist of Salburg 2 and Atelier Lilie: The Alchemist of Salburg 3 are possible. Further, he reveals that Gust wants the entire Atelier series available in digital stores.

You can view the full quoted question and response below:

Siliconera: What are your thoughts on Atelier Elie and Atelier Lilie? How would you feel about also eventually revisiting those games with possible remakes?

Junzo Hosoi: It is possible. One of our goals is to have the entire Atelier series, starting with Atelier Marie, available in the digital stores.

This news is huge since, like Atelier Marie, Atelier Elie and Atelier Lilie are Japan-only titles that never greeted the West in officially localized fashions. So, the fact that we may also get those games is pretty exciting, especially when considering the possibility of the originals also getting localized.

For those unaware, the Digital Deluxe edition of Atelier Marie Remake: The Alchemist of Salburg features the original Atelier Marie: The Alchemist of Salburg, even in the Western release.

It’s a pretty exciting time to be an Atelier fan. Check out Siliconera’s complete interview with Hosoi for additional insights.

Atelier Marie: The Alchemist of Salburg is the first title in the Atelier franchise, initially available on PlayStation 1 before seeing Sega Saturn, PC, Dreamcast, PlayStation 2, and mobile ports. The debut entry follows the titular protagonist, who’s the worst in her class and is in danger of failing, but she’s given a chance to pass if she can produce an exceptional item within five years of receiving her own Atelier.

Gameplay has the same elements future entries would utilize, such as gathering ingredients, interacting with townsfolk, and performing battles. Of course, there are notable differences, and this incoming remake appears to be taking liberties.

In addition to general enhancements and new character events, Atelier Marie Remake: The Alchemist of Salburg will feature a new Unlimited Mode, allowing players to “play at a more relaxed pace,” removing the time limit. There will be new character events, too. Additionally, the Atelier Marie Plus: The Alchemist of Salburg, Gust Extra BGM Costume Set, and “Another Look” Costume Set will be granted with the Digital Deluxe Edition.

Atelier Marie Remake: The Alchemist of Salburg will launch for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam on July 13, 2023.
