During the Inside Xbox May Update Livestream, Ubisoft released a sneak peek of gameplay for the newest Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. Set in the 9th century during England’s Dark Ages, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla aims to let player raids, growing their settlement, building their power, and expanding their influence.
Players will be able to explore Norway and England in a highly detailed, open-world setting. Creative Director Ashraf Ismail, of expressed excitement for the new generation of consoles and how Assassin’s Creed Valhalla will benefit from Xbox Series X like faster load times and Smart Delivery, allowing players to buy the game once and play it on either Xbox One or Xbox Series X.
Ismail says, “As developers, we’re always excited to work with new hardware because it gives us a greater ability to express our creative vision. Assassin’s Creed has always been committed to exploring new technologies and leveraging new consoles’ abilities to deliver the most immersive experience possible.”
Valhalla’s story stars Eivor and his Viking raider, driven from Norway due to war and low on resources. It is up to him to lead a clan across the North Sea to find a new home, no matter the cost. Combat includes the use of a hidden blade, dual-wielding axes, swords, and shields against “ the most varied collection of deadly enemies ever found in an Assassin’s Creed game.”
Players can also launch massive assaults against Saxon troops and fortresses. Or set surprise attack from longship to take over enemy territory to regain land and resources. From there, construct and upgrade buildings including barracks, blacksmith or tattoo parlor
Finally, Online modes have players customize raiders, join clans, and play alongside friends.
Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is being developed by Ubisoft Montreal, the team behind Assassin’s Creed Black flag and Origins. Additionally, fans that preorder the game will get the DLC mission, The Way of the Berserker, in which players will join a legendary Norse Berserker on his quest for revenge.
Assassin’s Creed Valhalla will release worldwide Holiday 2020 on Xbox Series X and Xbox One. Other platforms include PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Stadia, and for Windows PC exclusively on Epic Games Store, Uplay+ and the Ubisoft Store.
