Time-Stopping Action Roguelike ‘Ascend to ZERO’ Launches Today on PC and Xbox; Launch Trailer Streaming Now

Flyway Games has officially launched Ascend to ZERO, a time-manipulation action roguelike that is now available on Xbox Series X|S and PC via Steam. The game is priced at $11.99, supports Xbox Play Anywhere, and joins Xbox Game Pass on its first day of release. A launch trailer released alongside today’s debut offers another look at the game’s combat system, playable characters, and roguelike progression.

If you’re wondering whether it’s worth checking out, we’ve already spent time with the game. You can read Noisy Pixel’s review of Ascend to ZERO to see our full thoughts on its time-freezing combat and roguelike progression.

To celebrate the launch, Flyway Games is also offering a limited-time event featuring two exclusive cosmetic rewards: a mint-colored owl companion and the Frying Pan Device. Xbox players earn the rewards simply by reaching playtime milestones, while Steam players can unlock the same items through Twitch Drops by watching participating streams between July 14 and July 26.

Rather than relying on quick dodges or constant movement, Ascend to ZERO revolves around stopping time in the middle of combat. Players can pause the action to reposition, choose upgrades, and line up attacks before letting time resume, causing every planned move to unfold at once. Runs are randomized, with different enemy placements, level layouts, and Tech Chip upgrades encouraging new strategies each time.

The roster includes six playable characters, each offering a different approach to combat. As players progress through repeated runs, they’ll unlock additional equipment, weapons, gadgets, and Tech Chips that can be mixed together to create different builds. The game uses a voxel-inspired visual style viewed from a top-down perspective while its soundtrack keeps pace with the fast combat.
