Armored Core VI Fires of Rubicon Hits 150,000+ Steam Player Peak on Launch Day

Today marks the launch of FromSoftware’s new mech action game Armored Core VI Fires of Rubicon, the developer’s latest launch since their massive hit Elden Ring. Of course, Armored Core VI hasn’t done nearly as well as that goliath of a release, but it has still had a respectable launch, at least based on its Steam player numbers.

When looking at the charts of Steam Database, it’s recorded that Armored Core VI Fires of Rubicon peaked today at roughly 150,959 players.

This establishes the title as FromSoftware’s second-highest Steam launch, ahead of Dark Souls III and Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, which peaked at 129,000 and 125,000, respectively. Elden Ring, meanwhile, peaked at 953,000 on launch day, so, uh, that’s probably not getting surpassed anytime soon.

Still, it’s pretty wild to see an Armored Core game of all releases do this well when considering how niche it used to be. FromSoftware really is on a whole other level nowadays.

Armored Core VI Fires of Rubicon players move through massive 3D environments with mech maneuverability. Again, FromSoftware brings their crafted game design, which features challenging battles and “fulfilling progression.” Further,” Players will recognize the sense of satisfaction and achievement when they overcome a difficult situation and relish the momentary victory, and perhaps a boost to their standing, before encountering the next challenge.

There is no story connection between this entry and Armored Core V, a choice made so players can jump right into this entry. As for new players, the developer understands that customization and mech creation might seem confusing to new players, so they have made the assembly and customization more intuitive this time.

Armored Core VI Fires of Rubicon is now available for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC via Steam on August 25, 2023.
